Snail lullaby is a graphical composition that focuses on active performers, musicians who choose to perform different or unconventional works. As an indeterminate work, all singers can perform it. They can be accompanied with any instrument(s). It also supports unaccompanied versions or even exclusively instrumental performances.
This sweet lullaby, commissioned by Pedro Javier Yuste as a dedication to his goddaughter in 2013, draw a happy snail and, as a consequence it is not only a musical but also a visual artwork. It sings a poem written also by Javier Pérez Garrido. This poem tells us two parallel stories. Although they occur in different places, they magically converge at the end. On the one hand, we have the story of a delicate snail. After nightfall, it decides to sleep and start dreaming about flying through the clouds looking for freedom. On the other hand, a mother hugging and singing a lullaby to her little girl makes the baby fall asleep and she start dreaming that lives in the clouds, the place where both (snail and girl) meet and begin to play happily.

Program notes
Yuste is an indeterminate composition. On it, the composer invites the performer to be creative and to play its own version of the work. This is something really good for musicians because they sometimes ask: Why I have to play this composition as the composer has written it? Couldn't I decide how to play it? Therefore this composition is specially done for active performers, unique musicians who decide to play their music as they like. As a result, for instance and among many other things, there are some indeterminate patterns that allow musicians to play them in a freely way.
The composition was commissioned by Pedro Javier Yuste as a present for his father on January, 2013. The title -father's surname- appears on the score since the staves caricature Yuste. Speaking about its style, the work is based on some rhytmic and joyful melodic elements influenced by jazz.
Yuste is not only a musical but also a visual artwork.

This indeterminate composition has a lyrical melody that can be played by any instrument. At the end of it, a repetition under the words "Repeat Freely" invites us to restate the music theme doing all the variations we deem necessary until we decide that the work must be completed. For polyphonic instruments there are harmonic indications so that the melody can be accompanied. Curiously, the title of the work is also represented by it staves being thus not only a musical but also a visual artwork.
