The third edition of the International Competition for Soloists and Chamber Groups “Ro, 2016” has recently anounced the winners. On this occasion, jurors were the composer and conductor Andrés Valero-Castells as well as the composer Javier Pérez Garrido. Appart from that, thousand of people voted the Honorable Mention Prize thourgh internet. Enter and discover the final results:

FIRST PRIZE by III INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR SOLOISTS AND CHAMBER GROUPS "RO, 2016”, awarded by the jury and consisting of:

-Prize of 100€ and a certified diploma.

-A hard copy of the score Heart-shaped romance completely handwritten for the occasion in black ink on parchment paper by Javier Pérez Garrido, dedicated personally to the winner.

-Inclusion of the award-winning recording on Javier Pérez Garrido's official youtube channel.

-Realization of an interview to be published on the website www.perezgarrido.com (Spanish version)

-Publication of the winner on the website of the composer and free promotion online through his different social networks.

-It also exists the possibility to have the winner recording being broadcast by radio and also a radio interview of the winner in an important spanish radio program.

JURY MEMBERS 

Andrés Valero-Castells studied at the Superior Conservatoires of Valencia and Murcia, where he got eight degrees and won four Honour Mentions and the Honor Prize for the end of Degree in Composition. His most relevant teachers have been: R. Ramos, L. Balada, E. García Asensio, E. Cifre, M. Galduf, F. Tamarit, J. Mª Vives, V. Campos, etc. He joined a great number of specialization and postgrade courses. He finished the Advanced Postgraduate Studies (D.E.A) by the Catholic University of Valencia. Since 2004, he is Composition Professor at "J. Rodrigo" Superior Conservatoire of Valencia. He is also the Principal Conductor of Coruña Municipal Band (2015-16).

He has won important awards and prizes. His works have been played in most of Europe, in the U.S.A., Argentina, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Japan, Korea, Singapur, Hong Kong, etc. He has been commissioned to write music for different institutions, as well as other important musicians and groups. His scores are published in Spain, France, Switzerland and USA. His wide discography is held in Spain, Norway, France, Switzerland, Holland, U.S.A. and Japan. He has been head member of the Valencian Symphonic Composers Association, resident composer of the International Festival Spanish Brass (Alzira, 2005), and of the Young Orchestra of the Valencian Goverment (2005-06). He has also been the first interpreted alive composer in the Palau of the Arts "Reina Sofía" of Valencia (2006).

He was the Principal Guest Conductor of the Primitiva of Llíria and founder of the Ensemble Estudi Obert. He was conductor of the Symphonic Band of the CIM of Mislata, the SAM of Picassent, and the La Lírica of Silla. He has been a guest conductor among other formations; the Valencia Orchestra, Municipal Symphonic Band of Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela, etc, band of FSMCV, band of Musikene, the Artística of Buñol, and the Day of Valencian Music. He has conducted absolute and national premieres of L. Balada, H. Mertens, M. Daugherty, J. Lord, S. Sciarrino, L. Berio, R. Mira, F. Tamarit, Ll. Barber, etc. He has conducted ensembles, opera and symphonic bands at the International Festival of Contemporary Music of Valencia Ensems. In addition, for his versatility he has made unique projects such as recording a dvd for Sony with the rock band Barón Rojo and the CIM of Mislata.

 

Composer, conductor, clarinetist and teacher, Javier Pérez Garrido has been awarded more than 20 prizes, including the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals at theGlobal Music Awards and the nominations to theHollywood Music in Media Awards or theJerry Goldsmith Awards, among others. Music institutions and musicians around the world, such as the International Trumpet Guild, theEuropean Union Youth Wind Orchestra, or the Banda da Armada Portuguesa have commissioned him to write new pieces, some of them published and recorded in Cd´s (Molenaar, Cimarron Music Press, Egge Verlag, Piles), and his compositions have been premiered and performed in European as well as American and Asian countries. As a clarinetist he played with theEuropean Union Youth Wind Orchestra, the Spanish Youth National Orchestra or theMurcia Youth Orchestra, among others, and as a soloist we can highlight his performance atFifteen Minutes of Fame, New York. As a conductor, he has conducted several orchestras and bands in Madrid, Albacete, Murcia, Toledo, Valencia, etc. Nowadays, Pérez Garrido continues composing, conducting, playing and teaching.
