Synesthetic Preludes, Op.32a

Tuesday, 28 July 2015

Violoncello and piano

15 min. aprox.

Five synesthetic preludes describing colors by sounds.

Program notes

I. Eternity Purple
II. Sad Blue
III. Jumper Green
IV. Hopeful Yellow
V. Diabolic Red

Synesthesia leads some people to mix different senses at the same time. Related to these preludes, the idea of representing colors by emotive sounds is clearly a synesthetic point of departure. The natural development of this composition travels from the ultraviolet to the infrared (human vision limits).

For me, each color has a different emotional intensity. Thus, we have an Eternity Purple flying in paradise, a Sad Blue crying in a dark day, a Jumping Green sprouting in the Spring, an Illusion Yelow loving the sun and a Devil Red inside a roaring storm.
