Javier Pérez Garrido won the First Prize by the I National Concert Band Composition Competition Toledo last monday with his work "Rex Regum, Op.23".
142 composers from all over Spain took part on this national composition contest held in Toledo. After selecting 5 finalist works, there were a concert at the Teatro de Rojas where the Banda de Música Ciudad de Toledo premiered them.
Jaime de León, Abel Moreno Gómez, Manuel Martínez Burgos and Jose María Suñer Oriola decided to give to the composition "Rex Regum, Op.23" the First Prize. Then, a diploma and 3.000€ were given to Javier Pérez Garrido by the city mayor, Emiliano García-Page. Finally, Javier conducted his piece "Rex Regum".
Other prizes were given to Ricardo Espigales (2nd) and Aurelio Fernández-Cabrera (3rd) while Oscar Navarro and Miguel Rueda remained finalists.
Nuestras Bandas de Música will record a conmemorative Cd with the awarded pieces.
