The Symphonic Band of the Royal Professional Conservatory of Music and Dance of Albacete, conducted by Francisco José Casado, will perform the symphonic poem Mursiyah, by composer Javier Pérez Garrido, on 9 November at 8:00 p.m. at the Teatro de la Paz in Albacete.
This is a particularly significant work within the symphonic band repertoire, having won the International Prize for Symphonic Band Composition, organised to mark the 1,200th anniversary of the founding of the city of Murcia.
The performance will offer audiences in Albacete the opportunity to discover an internationally recognised composition, conceived to translate into music the historical, cultural and sonic richness of a city with twelve centuries of history.
Furthermore, the composer himself will travel to Albacete to meet with the musicians of the ensemble. During his visit, Javier Pérez Garrido will share his insights with the band, explain the musical and expressive aspects of the work, and provide interpretative guidance. The aim is to deepen the musicians' understanding of the artistic intentions behind the composition and help them deliver a performance that remains as faithful as possible to his original vision.
This collaboration between the composer, conductor and musicians represents a valuable artistic and educational experience, allowing members of the Symphonic Band to gain first-hand insight into the details and distinctive features of Mursiyah, thereby enriching the preparation process.
The event therefore promises to be a special opportunity to enjoy symphonic band music and discover an internationally acclaimed composition in a concert that will bring together the interpretative talent of Albacete's ensemble and the creative vision of its composer.
