Program notes
Sonatango is a sonata for clarinet and piano. Its formal structure is almost classical, with melodies, harmonies and rhythms influenced by the world of tango. Through it, we will find nostalgic tunes as well as virtuoso passages. The spirit of tango grows as the rhythmic accents fight each other for breaking the strict molds of this gender or decreases while the pulse turns into a lovely musical line where rubato appears in order to give much more freedom to music. This work has several influences by Astor Piazzolla, one of the best composers of tango in history.
