Europeans shouldn't forget to thank the brave soldiers who fought for peace and freedom during the World War II. The Netherlands knows it very well and, since the end of this struggle, organizes several homages to their fallen every May, 4th. This year, the region of Limburg will have a memorial ceremony in Valkenburg -on top of the Cauberg- where the Harmonie Concordia Melick under the baton of prestigious Roger Niese will play the composition Song for Peace by Pérez Garrido (among others). The event is starting with two minutes of silence at 8.00 p.m.

Today we delve into the eternal musical debate: Mozart or Beethoven? It's like asking if chocolate or vanilla is better, if you're a dog person or a cat person, or if you prefer party nights to movie nights on the couch. It’s not easy! But here we are, ready to dive into a discussion that has ignited lively conversations and left lifelong friends in awkward silence on more than one occasion.
Javier Pérez Garrido, through its website www.perezgarrido.com and his official facebook page www.facebook.com/compositorperezgarrido, announces the Third Edition of the International Competition for Soloists and Chamber Groups "Ro, 2016". For taking part on it, musicians only have to make and send a recording of the piece "Heart-shaped romance". This year we will have cash prizes and much more. Those interested in taking part should send an e.mail to contacto@perezgarrido.com stating:
"Although we live in an era where challenges confront us daily, each one of them offers an opportunity to change the world. It is essential that we come together and contribute with our individual greatness to forge a more hopeful tomorrow. Could there be a better reward than a world where peace and freedom are not just aspirations, but tangible realities?" Javier Pérez Garrido (2024).
Song for Peace is more than an overture for wind band; it is an anthem that resonates with the passion and determination of all the brave hearts in the world. It is a call that invites us to unite in the pursuit of a better planet.
The story of this composition is as inspiring as its message. Premiered with great applause by the prestigious Koninklijke Harmonie van Thorn from the Netherlands and maestro Norbert Nozy, and embraced by other European concert bands at emblematic events like the Tribute to the Fallen of World War II in Valkenburg, "Song for Peace" has become a symbol of hope and unity worldwide.
But the story doesn't end here. Javier has generously decided to share his work with the entire world. Yes, you read that right. Through this website, all wind bands around the globe can access his sheet music for free. This is his gift to those who wish to be part of the global movement towards a brighter future filled with harmony.
Join the peace revolution. Join the melody that will change the world. Join "Song for Peace".
